DESCRIPTION:The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Human Relations Commission will hold its Annual Dinner and Mayor’s Celebration of Diversity Awards on Friday\, October 27\, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.\, at the Old National Events Plaza. The keynote speaker will be Nikole Hannah-Jones\, author of the award-winning 1619 Project. \nIn partnership with the HRC and the Evansville African American Museum\, we’re proud to participate in a reading group for the book version of the 1619 Project. The group will divide the reading into three portions and meet monthly to discuss those portions. To help make the meetings as available as possible\, there will be two sessions every month\, a bring-your-own-brown-bag lunch and an evening session. The book club meetings will be held at Your Brother’s Bookstore. \nChapters 1-6:  August 31st – Noon or 6 PM \nChapters 7-12: September 21st – Noon or 6 PM \nChapters 13-18: October 19th – Noon or 6 PM \nGet the book here!
